This module provides information about the following -
- The general use of W-Beam & Thrie-Beam products as a foundation of proprietary product specific training (both legacy and accepted products).
- The limitation of use for legacy semi-rigid products.
- Public Domain (PD) W-Beam & Thrie-Beam installations for the identified Road Authorities.
Students MUST have completed the Installer A workshop and assessment to enroll into this course
Target Audience
The target audience for the ASHTAS Installer B W-Beam / Thrie Beam Course may include:
Road Safety Barrier Installers – Workers involved in installing W-Beam and Thrie Beam guardrails.
Construction and Infrastructure Workers – Professionals working in highway and road construction projects.
Civil Engineers and Site Supervisors – Those overseeing road safety installations.
Road Maintenance Crews – Personnel responsible for maintaining and repairing roadside barriers.
Contractors and Subcontractors – Companies and individuals specialising in road safety infrastructure.
Government and Regulatory Authorities – Inspectors and policymakers involved in road safety compliance.
Course Requirements
Learners are required to provide the following:
- Hold a Construction Induction Card (White Card)
- Hold the ASHTAS Operative e-card (You can book into the Operative course here - ASHTAS Operative Course)
- Hold the ASHTAS Installer A e-card OR have completed the 'Installer A' workshop and assessment and can provide evidence of working in Installer A.

Learning Methods
The course will be delivered over a 3 hour session.
The course uses a combination of practical and theoretical learning methods to ensure students gain hands-on experience and essential knowledge. The learning methods include:
Classroom-Based Learning
Workbook & Self-Study
Group Discussions & Problem-Solving
Theory Assessments & Competency Checks
Post Course: Logbooks are issued to students post course to document supervised hands-on installations. The logbooks must be completed and submitted to Lantra to ensure competency before being issued a certification.
This course is delivered through blended learning via our online platform. This course can be offered face-to-face in a classroom upon request. Students must provide their own laptops and ensure a reliable Wi-Fi connection for online attendance.

Students must have completed Installer A prior to attending Installer B.
Students must provide evidence of their 'Installer A' e-card OR have completed the 'Installer A' workshop and assessment and can provide sufficient evidence of working in Installer A.
CivilEdge do not review students logbooks and evidence. All evidence and assessments are assessed by Lantra.
CivilEdge will assist students by advising what documents may be sufficient as evidence in the logbook
