- RIISS00062 Traffic Management Implementer Skill Set for Motorways and Freeways
Introduction
This skill set addresses the skills and knowledge required for those responsible for traffic management implementation on Temporary Traffic Management Category 3 environments as described in the Austroads Guide to Temporary Traffic Management.
Target Audience
This skill set is for individuals responsible for traffic management implementation on a site and road workers under their direction on Temporary Traffic Management (TTM) Category 3 roads.
Course Requirements:
- Have Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) skills to ACSF level 2 or above (not required if previously completed with CivilEdge)
- Completion of TMI 1 - 'RIISS00060 Traffic Management Implementer Skill Set for Urban Streets and Low Volume Rural Roads'
- Provide evidence of at least three (3) months experience applying skills and knowledge relevant to the above-mentioned skill set in a temporary traffic management workplace that must include setting up at least 12 temporary traffic management types including high speed roads, and at least two of the following design types:
- pedestrian and cyclist controls
- construction sites
- lane closures
- shoulder closures
- night works
- use of portable traffic control devices
Please bring your own PPE to the course (including steel capped boots, broad brimmed hat, eye protection, gloves, long pants and high visibility shirt / vest / jacket).

CITB Funding
Learners may be eligible for CITB (Construction Industry Training Board) funding to support training of eligible workers in the construction industry. CITB funding is only available for South Australian resident learners and is provided upon provision of a valid CITB identification number upon booking.
Please note - full course fees will be charged at the time of enrolment and the CITB funding amount will be refunded once training is successfully completed (i.e. you are issues with your Statement of Attainment). CITB funding for this course is $155 - reducing the course fee from $600 to $445!
We acknowledge the support of the Construction Industry Training Board in reducing the cost of training for eligible workers.
Learning Outcomes

- Set out and monitor traffic guidance scheme for motorways and freeways

Learning Methods
The Traffic Management Implementer 3 (TMI 3) course will run over one (1) day. Throughout the day‚ theory-based assessments and activities will be completed.
Post course – within a 6-month period of completing the theoretical component of the course, the learner will be required to complete 3 different set-ups based on Traffic Management Plans and Traffic Guidance Schemes on declared Temporary Traffic Management Category 3 roads.
Please note - Placement must be completed at your OWN workplace.
In line with industry and licensing body requirements, all post-course placement hours and assessments must be completed within six (6) months of completing the theory component. Extensions are not available due to currency and regulatory requirements. If you experience genuine extenuating circumstances, you may request a Post Course Completion Review. You must provide valid evidence and, if approved, complete a supervised theory assessment at a cost of $200. Approval is not guaranteed. If approved, a final submission date will be agreed between you, the trainer, and management.
