Introduction

The ASHTAS Installer B Course is the third stage of the ASHTAS series of courses. This course is designed for operatives seeking accreditation in the installation of road safety hardware.

The Module covered is Temporary Road Safety Barriers.

Target Audience

This module provides information about the following -
  • ASHTAS course details and role of the installer
  • Types of temporary road safety barrier systems
  • General principles for temporary safety barrier systems
  • Installing a temporary road safety barrier - Longitudinal alignment  and lateral positioning
  • End Treatments - Crash cushions, terminals and transitions
  • Hazards associated with handling barrier units, including lifting barriers
  • Safe Work Practices - Installing barrier systems and Personal safety
  • Handover, TCUs and course assessment

Course Requirements - 
Learners are required to:
  • Be a minimum of 18 years of age
  • Hold a White Card 
  • Hold ASHTAS Operative e-card (Book for the Operative course here - ASHTAS Operative Course)
  • Students MUST obtain the 'Installer A' e-card and complete the logbooks.

Learning Methods

This module will take approximately 3 hours to complete (including theory and assessment). Post course logbooks must be completed by the student. The logbooks will be assessed by Lantra.

This course can delivered by face-to-face delivery‚ or via blended learning online. The course consists of theory‚ class participation‚ theory assessment and completion of e-logbooks.
