Introduction

This short course is a full-day refresher program designed to refresh learner’s knowledge and practical skills to safely control traffic with a stop-slow bat and implement traffic management plans.
The course is delivered in the context of a streamlined refresher program and is delivered in the classroom.

The course meets the requirements of VicRoads for traffic controllers to attend a refresher course every three (3) years and is also suitable for interstate workers seeking accreditation in Victoria.

Target Audience

This course is aimed at individuals looking to refresh their traffic control and traffic management skills and knowledge in Victoria and those seeking Victorian accreditation.


Course requirements:

Learners are required to:

  • Be 18 years of age or over
  • Have Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) skills to ACSF level 2 or above
  • Hold Statement of Attainment for RIIWHS205E and RIIWHS302E (or equivalent)
  • Hold a Traffic Control and Management card (not expired by more than 3 years and 3 months past the expiry date)
  • Bring your own PPE (including steel capped boots, long pants and high visibility shirt / vest / jacket).
To reduce our environmental impact, we are digitizing our training material. Please ensure that you bring your smart-phone / tablet / laptop as you'll be required to scan a QR code to download the Learner Guide of this course.

Learners may also be required to provide a letter from their employer or portfolio of evidence to demonstrate their currency and experience in controlling traffic with a stop-slow bat and implementing traffic management plans. This information will be provided to learners upon booking.

 

If you are keen to work as a Traffic Controller in Victoria it is also highly recommended that you have a White Card and hold a provisional or open drivers licence as you will be required to travel to work sites and may be required to drive work vehicles.

Learning Outcomes

  • At the completion of this course your knowledge and understanding of traffic control and traffic management legislation and procedures for traffic control will be refreshed.

Learning Methods

This course is delivered face to face in a classroom and involves an interactive presentation to refresh learners knowledge, a written assessment and practical assessment in a simulated environment.
