What is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO)?
Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) are those training providers registered by ASQA (or, in some cases, a state regulator) to deliver vocational education and training (VET) services.
RTOs are recognised as providers of quality-assured and nationally recognised training and qualifications.

What is a Unique Student Identifier (USI)?
The USI is a reference number made up of ten numbers and letters. This number creates a secure online record of all your nationally recognised training records and results undertaken since 1st January 2015. A USI can be obtained at no cost to students and your USI stays with you for life.
You’ll need a USI if you are a new or continuing student undertaking nationally recognised training.
Without a USI, you won’t be able to receive your statement of attainment, qualification, or award.

Can you get me a job?
Graduates of our New Entrants courses may be eligible for a interview with one of the affiliated traffic control companies – this depends on state specific traffic control onboarding requirements at the time of successfully completing the course.
For clarity, graduates are NOT guaranteed job.

Can Centrelink pay for my course?
Centrelink do not make payments directly to training organisations for participants courses. You would need to register with a local jobactive provider who would make the booking on your behalf and arrange payment if you are eligible. Refer to www.jobsearch.gov.au/serviceproviders for further information.

What if I have trouble with written/spoken English?
You will need to have language, literacy and numeracy skills to an ACSF level 2 to undertake these courses. If you are unsure of your level of English, we suggest you call us on 1300 725 483.

What is your cancellation/refund policy?

What are the clothing requirements to attend the course?
Most courses involve practical training and assessment which will require Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). For further details please refer to civiledge.com.au/course-list.

Will food be provided?
Lunch is not provided. There is always tea, coffee and water available. There is access to a fridge and microwave for those that would like to bring lunch, or there are places in the area to buy lunch.

Are there are any pre-requisites for my course?

Do I require a White Card for this training?
You do require a White Card for training in Queensland and Western Australia. In Victoria you don’t require a White Card for training however you would require one to work in the industry.

Do I require a Driver Licence for this training?
Different states have different requirements. Please refer to the individual course pages or call us on 1300 725 483 for further information.

How long is my qualification valid for?
Traffic accreditation needs to be renewed every 3 years, except in NSW and TAS.

Is the training Nationally Recognised?
Our courses are Nationally Recognised however States and Territories have different requirements relating to traffic control regulation and accreditation. Contact us for further information.

What do I need to bring?
You will need to bring your Drivers Licence, general construction induction White Card (if applicable for your course) and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Do I need my own vehicle to complete the course?
If your course includes vocational placement then you will need your own transport to enable you to get to placement sites as public transport is not always available. Please refer to the individual course pages on this website to ascertain if you will need a vehicle or contact us on 1300 725 483 for further information.

Am I eligible for the CTF subsidy? (WA only)
To be eligible for the Construction Training Fund subsidy, students must be able to demonstrate that they are directly employed in the building and construction industry in Western Australia. Refer to www.bcitf.org for further information.

Will I get a Certificate?
If you successfully complete your course and are deemed competent you will receive a Certificate and/or Statement of Attainment (SOA) outlining the nationally recognised unit(s) of competency you have achieved.

How long does it take to get my certificate?
Certificates and Statements of Attainment are issued promptly upon successful completion of the course.

What do I do if my SOA or tickets have been lost/stolen?
You would need to complete a Replacement Request form and pay a small fee for re-issuing certification. Contact us on 1300 725 483 for further information.

Do any of the industry recognised licences/accreditations expire?

How can I pay for my course?
Acceptable payment methods are Visa, Mastercard and direct credit into our account. You can either pay for your course in full at the time of booking, or enter into a payment plan. For more information about payment plans, please visit: https://civiledge.com.au/ezypay/
We are able to also invoice your company or jobactive provider, however this needs to be arranged prior to your course.

When do I need to pay for my course?
Payment is required at time of booking when paying with a Credit Card. If you choose to enter into a payment plan of four weekly installments, you can choose when the payment plan starts as long as we receive one payment before your course start date. If your employer or job seeker provider is paying via invoice, we must receive payment at least 7 days before the first day of your course.

What are the Ezypay payment plan terms?

What do I need to enrol in a TC1 or TMI1 course?
An individual wishing to enrol in this skill set must hold the unit CPCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry or its equivalent unit (e.g., Statement of Attainment) at the time of enrolment.

Do I get paid for 20 hours placement?
No, the 20 hours placement is unpaid.

How long do I have to complete my 20 hours placement?
You have 6 months from the last day of your training course to submit all documentation on completing 20 hours.
PLEASE NOTE – If you do not complete your placement within six months, you may be required to retake the entire course at full cost or reattempt the theory assessment for a fee of $150. This decision will be at the discretion of the RTO.

How long do I have to complete my TMI assessment?
You will have 6 months from the last day of your training course to complete the TMI assessment.

Do I get my accreditation at the completion of my traffic control training course?
No, you will be required to undertake 20 hours of on-site work under the direct supervision of a person holding this skill set and complete a logbook of activities undertaken. To complete your TMI assessment, you must complete three different Temporary Traffic Management set ups.

How long do I have to wait to undertake TC2-TMI2?
After successful completion of your 20 hours placement you must have at least a further 40 hours of experience working in a temporary traffic management workplace in a traffic controller role.
For TMI, evidence of at least three different types of setups and practical training experience applying the relevant skills and knowledge in a temporary traffic management workplace.

Can I do a TC2, TMI2 or TMI3 without doing a TC1-TMI1 course?
No, this skill set may only be undertaken upon:
- Completion of RIISS00058 Traffic Controller Skill Set for Urban Streets and Low Volume Rural Roads; and at least 40 hours of experience working in a temporary traffic management workplace in a traffic controller role and,
- Completion of RISS00060 Traffic Management Implementer Skill Set and evidence of at least three different types of setups and practical training experience applying the relevant skills and knowledge in a temporary traffic management workplace.

Will I obtain a physical card once I complete the course?
You will receive a Statement of Attainment (SOA) for the units you complete during the course and a card will be posted to you.

How long does my accreditation last?
You will be required to undergo a refresher course 3 years from the date of your accreditation.

I want to undertake the Traffic Management Designer 1 skill set. What experience or qualifications do I need?
This skill set may only be undertaken in addition to completion of any of the following skill sets:
1. Eligibility through experience as a Traffic Management Implementer:
- Completion of any of the following TMI Skill Sets (Statement of Attainment):
- RIISS00060 Traffic Management Implementer Skill Set for Urban Streets and Low Volume Rural Roads; or
- RIISS00061 Traffic Management Implementer Skill Set for High Volume Roads; or
- RIISS00062 Traffic Management Implementer Skill Set for Motorways and Freeways.
- With at least 12 months experience applying the relevant skills and knowledge in a temporary traffic management workplace (example – resume, job tickets from the last 12 months or letter of employment); and
- Providing evidence of relevant experience setting up at least 20 temporary traffic management types in at least four (4) of the following design types (example – job tickets) (evidence must be from the past 3 years):
- pedestrian and cyclist controls
- construction sites
- lane closures
- shoulder closures
- night works
- use of portable traffic control devices
- motorways or freeways
OR,
2. Eligibility through qualification in relevant/related academic field:
- At least an AQF Level 6 qualification in a civil construction, traffic engineering or road design related field
OR,
3. For existing workers –

- Must be currently permitted in their jurisdiction, prior to the jurisdictional adoption date, to develop, review or audit traffic management designs or traffic guidance schemes (resume showcasing experience), AND
- Must provide evidence of currency of practice. This must demonstrate that in the past 3 years the applicant has designed, or reviewed, or audited a minimum of 12 TMPs and 12 TGSs. The TMPs and TGSs must include a minimum of four different worksite locations that are within the relevant jurisdiction (evidence must be from the past 3 years). There worksite locations may include TTM Category 1 or TTM Category 2 or TTM Category 3 roads or sections of the network.
- Completion of any of the following TMI Skill Sets (Statement of Attainment):

I want to undertake the Traffic Management Designer 2 skill set. What experience or qualifications do I need?
This skill set may only be undertaken in addition to:
- completion of the RIISS00063 Traffic Management Designer Skill Set for Urban Streets and Low Volume Rural Roads; and
- at least six months experience applying skills and knowledge relevant to the above mentioned skill set in a temporary traffic management workplace; and
- providing evidence of relevant experience preparing at least 4 different traffic management plan design types (being both approved by a client and successfully used in practice) including pedestrian and cyclist controls, lane closures, and at least one of the following design types:
- construction sites
- shoulder closures
- high speed roads
- using portable traffic control devices
- roundabouts
- public transport interfaces
- motorways or freeways.
